Hi! I’m Katie,
I’m a mama of two gorgeous kids, 10 & 5.
I’m 33 & have been a Hervey Bay local for 29 years now.
Hervey Bay has grown so much over the last few years, and I really enjoy meeting lots of new faces through my photography.
I first established Kaptured by Katie in October 2021 when my son was 1 year old. After 13 years in retail, I wanted to be able to create a life where I could spend more time with my two young children and share in my own family’s special moments. I wanted to be able to put my artistic side to work, capture & share in all the best moments of others and give them beautiful memories to hang on their walls to look back on.
I always knew i wanted to get into Wedding Photography, but wanted to be sure i was equipped to capture such an important day.
In August 2023, i was lucky enough that i was given the opportunity to shoot my very first wedding, and i haven’t looked back since. The weddings just keep rolling in and they are my absolute favourite to shoot.
I absolutely love shooting any type of family photography too, I guess because I can relate and know how fast the years fly by, so it’s so important to document those special moments when you get the chance.
I’m really looking forward to what 2025 is going to bring for my small business and I really hope I get to meet you & your family xx.
FAQ
How many pictures will we receive?
Each package will specify how many images you will receive. Most of the time, there will be an option to purchase additional images at an additional cost of 3 for $25.
How should we dress for our family session?
Neutral colours are always a great option. But it really depends what sort of vibe you want for your images. Sometimes a pop of colour looks great. I always love khakis, whites and beiges for family photos. I also love when large families all wear white & pastel colours.
Some things to keep in mind..
1. I recommend you stay away from black if possible as it doesn't always photograph the best.
2. Try to stick to only one person wearing a print, and the others wearing plain colours that compliment the print.
3. Linen crushes on the car ride to your session, so if you can get away with it, you could get dressed once you arrive.
What’s the best time to have a Newborn Session?
I always find that 7 days old is the best time to photograph your newborn, as they are still quite sleepy and can be manipulated into positions more easily. But anywhere up to 14 days is still great.
When should I book my Maternity Session?
Booking in with me for your session is best to do a few months in advance as I book out 2-3 months ahead of time. Anywhere from 34-37 weeks pregnant is the best time to have your maternity photos taken.
